SSL Access To MindForge Enabled

Good news for all who are active in organized crime, secret agencies or the free masons: MindForge now allows SSL connections for maximum security and privacy.

Along with the general update to latest Unreal release 3.2.8.1 we also added SSL access on port 6697.

So what is this SSL stuff about?
Without SSL the connection between your IRC client and the IRC servers is plaintext. The same is true for the connections between the IRC server that form MindForge. So anyone who manages to tap into this line, e.g. on public WIFI hot-spots or due to someone being compromised by a trojan etc, could read the entire communication.

With SSL all the communication between clients and servers is encrypted so nobody can decipher any text that is sent over the network. Obviously, for complete security all users in a channel have to use SSL, otherwise some parts remain unencrypted.

The only thing left to do is to configure your client to use SSL:
