Dear MindForge Users,

As you all know, we have been experiencing DDOS attacks from one disgruntled user for some time now. With a lull during July and August (yes, even DDOSers go on vacation ...) we are back this month to very aggressive attacks from this same person, which explains your recent difficulty in joining here.

As you probably also know, DDOS attacks (Distributed Denial Of Service) consist in saturating the target (in this case the MindForge network) with massive external communication requests such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic. These attacks are very hard to defend against without massive financial investment and very hard to prove to authorities who could do something about it.

You are certainly wondering what the MindForge Team could possibly have done or said to this user for him to react this way ... In the name of community fairness (and common sense) we simply requested from the beginning that he follow the same network rules and regulations that everyone else does. In his view however, he should be allowed to join any channel he wishes, insult anyone he likes and threaten us with DDOS when we don't give in. And this is the result ... So, you ask, who is this guy ?

First, he comes from Romania and lives in Sindal, Denmark. Named Adrian Morariu, he has apparently spent over ten years on the Undernet IRC network and brags extensively of the attack knowledge he aquired there including being an Admin. He has also bragged about having 800 IPs from hacked and infected machines all over the world to launch his attacks. He has even bragged about working for government and research entities like NSA, MIT ....

His main buddy Cosmin7 or c7, who will be having his 22nd birthday on next October 9, is the script kiddie "brain" behind the recent DDOS operation against us; looks like Adrian is merely the loud mouth stooge carrying the suitcase (and paying the servers) here ...^^. Google these guys on Undernet and see for yourself ... nice crew !

There you have it ^^ . While it still doesnt resolve the DDOS problem, you (and we) can at least take solace in knowing who we are dealing with. The psychology of this individual is quite particular. From our experience, he seems to thrive mainly on attention ... as if he never got enough as a child, and of course technical power. We certainly hope that at least his parents thought he was "cute" when he was born !

We apologize for the inconvenience these attacks have caused and are doing everything possible to thwart them hoping contacted authorities will act quickly. We also thank all the users that have tried to "reason" with him; seems however that we have a tough mental case here ... with a very "full" background.

In any case, we refuse to let MindForge be dictated to by such common thugs not to say "terrorists" ! We will keep you informed of new details on this story here and invite you to read this page frequently for updates.
