  1. Download OpenSSL for Windows. For most users the "Win32 OpenSSL vX.XX Light" version will be the correct one
  2. Install the OpenSSL package you just downloaded. During the install be sure to choose the correct location for the OpenSSL DLLs:

    Install SSL

  3. Open the Options (Alt + O) in mIRC and go to Connect --> Options. If the installation went well you should see a new SSL button

    mIRC SSL Button

  4. Still in Options navigate to Connect --> Servers and use the Add Button to add a new server. Use the following data:
    Description: MindForge SSL
    IRC Server: irc.mindforge.org
    Ports: +6697

    Add SSL server

  5. Connect to MindForge with a double click on the newly created server. First thing that will pop up is the following warning:

    Warning

    Just accept the warning. The "Unable to get local issuer certificate" warning just means that you do not have a root certificate installed in mIRC.

    In the snotices log you will find something like this:
    22:19:24 :: *** Looking up your hostname...
    22:19:24 :: *** Found your hostname
    22:19:25 :: *** You are connected to Neuromancer.MindForge.org with TLSv1-AES256-SHA-256bits
